Verbal Kint

Verbal Kint is a magnificent duo from Rotterdam, Netherlands, founded by Dennis Moerkerk and Rogier Oster, according to them their music project started out as a pastime, in fact they started without any musical direction at all and the big dilema was to create a recognizable sound, instead of being tied to a genre, after a lot of of work in thier tiny studio they finally made it, they merged groovy rhythms, like bossa-nova with solid basslines, electronic samples and live instruments, they released a song called Feel The Rhythm, which was featured on the Ibiza Cool Jazz Edition Vol. 2, in the summer of 2005. This sublime tune would soon engender their emblematic sound.

By the end of 2005 they teamed up with Martin Schellens (who was the lead singer of Twist of Fate, the band on which Oster was the drummer) for a live-set at the launching of a new cross-media magazine released by Dif-Books, this events positioned Verbal Kint as a respected project. After getting in touch with Hungarian singer Judie Jay, Rogier and Dennis made two extraordinary tracks with her, the blending of their influences created a great coalescence and therefore accomplishing a revolutionary concept that could be just compared with artists like Moloko or Lamb.

Today, Verbal Kint are working in their studio on several tracks with the goal of releasing an album in the near future, they also composed the music for a new Lifestyle TV show, on the Dutch commercial TV station RTL4, called “Goodies”. Rummors are that they are talking to EMI to sign for their first album, so when that moment arrives all their tracks are going to be offline, so enjoy them before a record label establish the infamous settlement: 90% business, 10% music.
